NUS Malay Studies Society (NUSMSS) is an academic society affiliated to the National University of Singapore (NUS) Malay Studies Department. It was formed out of the need to establish a discursive environment on campus. Since its early days, NUSMSS has aimed at promoting a culture of critical thinking amongst undergraduates, hence our motto: “Renung. Fikir. Suara.” (Reflect. Think. Speak.). However, the idea of functioning and critical thinkers extend beyond the four walls of the university, and so NUSMSS has strived to engage the public at large. With our mission statement in mind, we hope that the conversations and issues we raise will make students and the general masses think and reflect on the conditions of our society.
